Tests Confirm Disappearance of Lula's Tumor
Brasilia, Mar 28.- Medical examinations on Wednesday to former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (2003-2010) confirmed the disappearance of the tumor in the larynx, detected last October and for which he underwent chemotherapy treatment.
The medical bulletin of the Syrian-Lebanese Hospital, in Sao Paulo, states that "nuclear magnetic resonance tests and laringoscopy were performed, which showed the absence of visible tumor, revealing only a mild inflammatory process in areas subjected to radiation, as expected ".
The report of the medical team caring the treatment of the former president, directed by Roberto Kalil Filho, states that Lula will continue his speech therapy sessions and will begin a program of regular tests.
The disappearance of the ex president cancer had already been predicted by the team of doctors, but as they themselves said at the time, required the necessary tests to confirm that the tumor, of three centimetres and middle aggressiveness, had been destroyed completely with treatment.
On March 4, Lula had to be admitted to the Syrian-Lebanese hospital because he had fever and tests showed he had pneumonia, as physicians said, because of low immunity in his body that remained after the chemiotherapic treatment.
Despite the disappearance of the tumor, doctors have noted on several occasions that at least they have to wait for five years to assert that the former head of State is completely cured of cancer. (Prensa Latina)
