President of Sri Lanka Arrives in Cuba
Havana, Cuba, Jun 15.- Mahinda Rajapaksa, President of Sri Lanka,arrived this afternoon in Havana city for a four-day official visit to Cuba.
President Rajapaksa, heading a delegation that includes Foreign Minster G. L. Peiris and other cabinet members, was received at the Jose Marti International Airport by Cuba’s deputy Foreign Minister Ana Teresita González.
He will hold official talks with the Cuban president Raul Castro; pay homage to the National Hero Jose Marti and visit places of interest in Havana city, among other activities.
Cuba and Sri Lanka started diplomatic relations in July 1959, and have cooperated with each other in sports, education, health and other sectors.
Sri Lanka supports Cuba’s struggle for the lifting of the US economic, financial and commercial blockade.(ACN)
