Raul Castro’s Visit to Vietnam Makes Headlines in Local Press



Havana, July 9.- The media in Vietnam described the recent visit to that Asian nation by Cuban President Raul Castro and his talks with top government authorities as a high point in the steady development of historic and cooperation relations between the two countries.

Daily publications, webistes, radio and television showed images of the official welcoming ceremony for the Cuban leader at the presidential palace.alt

The Vietnamese News Agency (VNA) said that the visit will serve to take to practice the Cuba-Vietnam joint declaration signed in Havana during the visit by the general secretary of Vietnam’s Communist Party Nguyen Phu Trong.

Saigon Liberation newspaper referred to ongoing bilateral projects in rice cultivation, construction, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas.

The newspaper of the Communist Youth, Tuo Troi, said that the Vietnamese people will always recall that Cuba led the world movement in support of Vietnam’s struggle for independence and reunification.

The paper of the people’s army described the visit by Trong to Cuba last April and by Raul to Vietnam this week as significant and historic milestone in bilateral relations.
