US African Awareness Association Demands Freedom of Cuban Five

Havana, Cuba, July 12.- Members of the US African Awareness Association joined representatives of the University Network in solidarity with the Cuban Five to demand the return to Cuba of the anti-terrorist fighters held in the US since 1998.

During a gathering, on Wednesday, at the Havana-based Jose Antonio Echeverria Higher Polytechnic Institute, the African-American activists expressed their commitment to take the international claim in favor of the Five to the American people and to President Barack Obama.

Banboshe Shango, with the US Solidarity-with-Cuba network said they knew little about the Cuban Five cause due to the wall of silence raised by the American press. He added that after learning the truth story they will spread the word back home to break the wall of silence.

African Awareness Association traveled to Cuba in order to offer its support against the over 50-year US economic, commercial and financial blockade of the island.
