Angolans and Cubans Celebrate Day of National Rebellion

Luanda, Jul 28.- The Association of Cadets and Junior Cadets of Assopreca marked the Day of National Rebellion in Cuba with different activities in a political ceremony at the Monument of the Cuban Combatants in Huambo province, demanding the end of U.S. blockade against Cuba and the release of the Cuban Five anti-terrorist fighters unjustly held in U.S. prisons.

Cuban cooperation workers joined representatives of the Central Military Region attending the meeting, who expressed the joy of the Angolan people to celebrate July 26 and noted the fruitful friendship ties and solidarity between their countries.

According to Cuban diplomatic sources, participants in a gathering at the Higher Institute of Science in Huambo, 525 kilometers south-east of Luanda, discussed the issue of the updating of the Cuban economic model.

In his speech during the activity, the Counselor of the Cuban Embassy in Angola, Juan Socorro Maceda, noted the importance of the National Rebellion Day, which marks the heroic freedom actions on July 26, 1953, when young people assaulted the Moncada and the Carlos Manuel de Cespedes garrisons, changing the route of history towards independence and sovereignty won later in January 1959.
