Ecuador Ratifies Solidarity with Cuba

Ciego de Avila, Cuba, Aug 10.- Edgar Anibal Ponce, Ecuador’s Ambassador to Havana, ratified on Thursday his country’s indestructible friendship and solidarity with Cuba.

He said these words during a meeting held at the village next to the Ecuador sugar mill-refinery in the municipality of Baragua, Ciego de Avila province, on the occasion of the First Cry of Independence in the Americas, which took place on August 10, 1809 in the city of Quito.

Ponce also said that the fraternity existing between the Caribbean island and the South American nation increases day by day, and mentioned as an example Cuba’s aid to the Ecuadorians in the training of physicians and other professionals.

After recalling the legacy of Eloy Alfaro and the vision of Jose Marti and of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, the ambassador pointed out that Cuba is a star shinning permanently and that it offers new dawns to other peoples.

Ponce toured the sugar refinery; spoke with workers participating in repairs; donated books to the center’s history museum; and received texts and presents, including a video on the history of the island’s sugar industry.

Later, the Ecuadorian ambassador toured the City Park at the provincial capital.(ACN)
