Julian Assange Rejects Consular Assistance from Australia
 Canberra, Aug 18.- The Australian Government confirmed contacts with the Wikileaks founder, Julian Assange, adding that he rejected consular assistance although he appreciated the gesture.
According to a press release from the office of Australian Foreign Minister, Bob Carr, those contacts were initiated two days before Ecuador granted Assange diplomatic asylum.
Documents declassified and published by the Fairfax media group, from Australia, affirmed the Canberra embassy in Washington is aware for over a year of a research from the US intelligence agency on Assange.
The founder of Wikileaks, who is Australian, has stated that the objective is to charge him especially in the United States, particularly for the the extensive information published regarding Washington's interference in the internal affairs of many countries. (Prensa Latina)
