Cuba’s Higher Education Minister Reviews Beginning of School Year in Camagüey

Camagüey, Cuba, Sep 6 - Cuba’s Higher Education Minister Rodolfo Alarcón Ortiz claimed that the students’ well-rounded education and the impact of universities in our society are the main goals for the current school year.

In his most recent visit to the University of Camagüey, the senior official checked the actions this centre carries out for the present school year and urged that the learning of scientific and academic contents should go hand in hand with a suitable political, ideological and patriotic education.

For his part, the Chancellor of the University of Camagüey Santiago Lajes Choy gave details of the current situation of this institution concerning teacher planning, supplies, funds and sanitary conditions.

This Camaguey-based higher education institution, the first one opened by the Revolutionary Government on November 6, 1962, celebrates this year the 45th anniversary higher education in this Cuban province.

At present, this center features nine faculties and over 10,000 students of 24 courses attend classes there. (Yurislenia Pardo Ortega/Radio Cadena Agramonte).
