Camagüey, Oct 15.- The baseball team that will represent Camagüey province at the upcoming 53rd Cuban Serie Nacional campaign has been set up in a meeting attended by provincial leaders and Cuban sporting officials.
The roster of 32 athletes is made up by three catchers Lednier Ricardo, Ermindo Escobar and Yunier Tellez, nine in-field players Dary Bartolomé, Yasiel Mederos, Leonel Segura Morales (rooky), Humberto Bravo Riquene (rooky), Damián Leyva Arias (rooky), Rafael Lastre, Marino Luis, and Henry Quintero Chávez (rooky).
On the other hand, there will be six men patrolling the outfields; these men are Héctor Hernández, Osmel Aguila, Dayron Blanco William Luis, Asniel Hernández, and Dayron Varona.
Likewise, Camagüey' 14-pitcher roster is comprised of Vichyondry Odelín, Norge Ruiz, Yormani Socarrás, Noel Casald, Alexis Mulató, David Brito, Yusniel Saborit, Dariel Góngora, Jaime Vidal, Lisander Hernández, Arbelio Quiróz, (rooky), Nelson sosa, Joan Fabré and José Ramón Rodríguez, (rooky).
Luis Guevara Cañete will be again the manager of this team. In the meeting, Guevara Cañete gave a detailed explanation on the team’s shortcomings during the last championship and which were the measures they took to amend the flaws.
Jorge Polo Vázquez, vice president of INDER, said that everything is ready for the upcoming campaign due to begin on November 3rd.
For his part, Jorge Luis Tapia, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) in Camagüey province claimed that “there’s quality and talent in the team's men, not only to end among the best eights, but to be among the best fours; the point is to set it as a goal”.
