Baku, Jan 7.- The five boxers belonging to the "Domadores de Cuba" (Cuban Wranglers) trained today in the city of Guba, in preparation for next Sunday's match against the local team "Baku Fires" at the World Boxing Championships.
After a brief rest from their long trip, the Cubans began training at the Olympic Complex, where they will contest the final stage of the first eliminatory round of group B, reported the website for the weekly Jit sports paper.
"The objective is to win every fight, but this is a difficult opponent and we will consider positive any results that allow us to dominate the match," said head coach Rolando Acebal.
Received in this capital by Cuban Ambassador Omar Medina, the team is led by Olympic champion Robeisy Ramirez (56 kg) and also features the world double silver medalist Yasnier Toledo (64).
The Azerbaijani squad ranks fourth in the B group, with six points, preceded by the Wranglers (12), Kazakhstan Astana Arlans (10) and Russia (seven).
If there are no last-minute changes, medium-weight Rasmon Luis, unbeaten in two previous rounds, will fight against the more seasoned host, Khaybula Musalov, who has eight victories and three failures in two previous matches and was ranked second in the 2011-2012 individual rankings.
To conclude the evening, Erislandy Savon (2-0), leader between matches, will face Latypov Danis (1-0), his victim in the final of the Grand Prix Usti Nad Labem in 2012, where he boxed for Russia.
In segment A, the Ukrainian Ottomans (nine points) will face the Algeria Desert Hawks (two) on the same Saturday, and Germany (three) will host the Argentina Condors (four) and U.S. Knockouts (one) against Dolce & Gabbana's Italia Thunder (five). (Prensa Latina)
