U.S. Is Trying to Destroy Chavez' Legacy, President Evo Morales Says

La Paz, Feb 18.- The United States is financing a coup d'etat to Venezuela in order to destroy Hugo Chavez's humanist legacy, Bolivian president Evo Morales said today.

Morales told TV network TeleSur, Venezuela is not alone and can count on all Latin American and Caribbean countries' solidarity.

On behalf of the Bolivian people, we send our energy and support to the courageous Venezuelan people and president Nicolás Maduro, Morales added.

This coup attempt is being financed from abroad, by the United States, Morales affirmed.

The United States are investing countless resources to overthrow Maduro so they can control and plunder Venezuela once again.

The U.S. government's strategy is to create internal conflicts, then send troops, torture political and union leaders and take possession of natural resources. That is what they did in Libya and that is what they are trying to do in Venezuela.

Washington will not stop financing terrorist groups to create instability through its embassies, thus creating a pretext to justify its intervention, the President said.

What is happening in Venezuela today already happened in Bolivia in 2008, but the people rose up and fought the coup attempt, Morales recalled.

The United States hopes to seize the Venezuelan oil, just as they did with Libya's. That is the reason it seeks to create instability, so it can survive its own crisis. But they cannot steal from Venezuela anymore.

Our unity will defeat the U.S., Morales added. (Prensa Latina)
