Spanish Soprano Montserrat Caballé Charged with Tax Evasion

Madrid, April 29.- Spanish soprano Montserrat Caballé has been summoned by a court in Barcelona, accused of tax evasion in the amount of 500,000 euros, court sources said today.

Caballé is due to appear in court May 9th for not declaring an bank account registered in Andorra where she deposited income from her concerts abroad, according to Catalonia press reports.

The legal action focuses on several concerts performed in 2010 and a number of recordings made in Moscow, Geneva and Barcelona, for which she received more than two million euros, and argues that Caballé was living in Barcelona while she appeared to have residency in Andorra. (Prensa Latina).
