Havana, Jan 3.- After several days of being in critical condition, Cuban radio show host Eduardo Rosillo Heredia - National Radio Award winner- died today in Cuba's capital Havana, at age 85.
His passing represents an irreparable loss not only for radio broadcasting, but also for our national culture, since Rosillo Heredia was one of the greatest advocates of the Cuban popular music, being his shows “Domingo con Rosillo” and “Alegrías de Sobremesa”, both aired by Radio Progreso, an example of this .
Rosillo –as everybody fondly called him- earned countless recognitions and awards, among which we can mention the replica of the machete of General Máximo Gómez, the Commendation for the National Culture, the Alejo Carpentier Medal, the Félix Varela Order and the Golden Microphone at Cali Trade Fair, in Colombia.
The memorial service for Eduardo Rosillo Heredia is being held today at Calzada y K funeral home in Havana; his interment will take place on the morning of Sunday 4 January. (Cubadebate/Radio Cadena Agramonte).
