France Praises Renewed Cooperation with Cuba
Paris, Cuba, Dec 1st.- The French government on Wednesday positively assessed the resumption of the bilateral cooperation with Cuba, stating it would provide better support for French projects on the island.
French Foreign Ministry spokesman Bernard Valero told reporters that France welcomes the resumption of collaboration on promoting academic exchange, French language instruction, and scientific research, while opening other areas of assistance and cooperation through NGOs and research organizations in France.
In recent years, France has had a significant presence in terms of supplying food to Cuba, and in sales of machinery, vehicles, and equipment for heavy industry and the energy industry, according to reports during the Havana Trade Fair.
Valero said the new stage in relations between Paris and Havana is also related to results of the mission that President Nicolas Sarkozy entrusted in late February 2009 to current Socialist deputy and former minister Jack Lang. (Prensa Latina)
