Contemporary Art Exhibition in Camagüey

Camagüey, Cuba, April 13 – Renowned plastic artists in Camagüey are displaying their works at Julian Morales Art Gallery in a collective exhibition named: Aquí! ¿Arte contemporáneo? (Here! Contemporary art?).
In the third version of this project - organized by the National Association of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC) and the Plastic Arts Provincial Council in Camagüey province – we can find the most recent creations by Joel Jover, Eduardo Rosales, Juan Gutiérrez, Miroslav de la Torre, Joel González Pallerols and David González.

In the opening ceremony, Master of Arts Jorge Santos Caballero referred to the intellectual responsibility of the artists in the face of the challenges that the modern society entails, and described this exhibition as the “curatorial project with best cohesion.”

Santos Caballero also said that - beyond trends and techniques - the goal of the participants is to show the essence of conceptualization in these moments, the degree of social commitment of the Cubans nowadays and an exemplary urban co-living.

Santos Caballero praised the colloquial value of the exhibition which can provoke a dialogue between the work and the public through new concepts, starting from the artists’ own experiences. (Lázaro David Najarro Pujol / photo: Annielsis Pérez/Radio Cadena Agramonte).
