Cuban Goes for another Ball Control Guinness Record

Havana, Cuba, Sep 20.- World record holder Erick Hernandez will try to break his own mark in the hitting the soccer ball using only the thighs modality, next Saturday at the Copacabana Hotel in Havana city.

Hernandez set the world record in this modality in 2009, when he hit the football for one hour and 28 minutes without allowing it fall to the ground, using only his thighs.

“I will start this attempt at 9 AM and I am expecting to reach the hour and a half, therefore I will be able to hit the ball some 9 000 times.”

All these modalities of ball control are complicated, but this one, when the athletes can only use his thighs, becomes one of the hardest.

“I have been training hard for months, especially, daily work with my abs, to strengthen them. Besides, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, I run anywhere from 8 to 15 kilometers (5 to 10 miles)” Hernandez explained.

“At the same time I do half sit-ups with weights, I work with my abductors and my back in general.”

Erick holds several Guinness records, including the 100 meters dash hitting a football in 17.83 seconds; the marathon in 7.17 hours and the longest hitting a ball )19.10 hours). (acn).
