New Piano Brand in Japan Named after Chucho Valdes
Havana, Cuba, Mar 6.- Cuban jazz musician Chucho Valdés expressed enthusiasm for the creation of a line of pianos with his name in Japan and announced he will work on a new album with his Afro-Cuban Messengers ensemble.
Chucho, who is the author of Misa Negra and Mambo influenciado, told Granma newspaper that the first eight Chucho pianos have been already produced: "designers and manufacturers took into consideration the sound of Latin jazz and honored me by putting my name on them", he said.
He also said he needs time to write and rehearse the songs to be included in his new album, which will have some guests.
After his return "34 years later" to Carnegie Hall in New York and 22 concerts in the USA between January and February, 2012, Chucho Valdes already plans his next presentation there, which is "not only one of the temples in the world of jazz, but a Mecca for the entertainment industry."
Valdes, who has eight Grammys, announced that in late 2012 he will take to Carnegie Hall two of the best talents of current Cuban jazz, Aldito Lopez Gavilan and Dayramir Gonzalez, who holds a scholarship from Berklee College. (Prensa Latina).
