Cuban Dancers Among Stars at Prague Ballet Gala
HAVANA, Cuba, March 8.- Stars of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba, Viengsay Valdes and Osiel Gounod will perform at the 7th Prague Ballet Gala which will take place at the Prague State Opera on March 12.
The Cuban dancers will perform the Diane and Acteon Pas de Deux, a choreography by Alicia Alonso on A. Vagánova’s original and music by Riccardo Drigo.
The BNC’s prima ballerina will also dance the Non, Je ne Regrette Rien solo by Ben van Cauwenbergh on the famous song by Charles Dumont, interpreted by Edith Piaf. This ballet was premiered in Cuba at the 22nd Havana International Ballet Festival.
Valdes and Gounod will share the stage with soloists from renowned ballet companies, such as the Paris Opera Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, Mariinski Ballet, the Dutch National Ballet and the Opera Ballet of Burdeaux, among others.
The annual Prague Ballet Gala, which showcases outstanding dancers from various countries, has become a highly anticipated New Year's tradition for Czech audiences.
The Prague Ballet Gala is organized by Prague International Ballet, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving professional dance education, preserving ballet heritage and introducing the best ballet artists to Czech audiences.
