Almost One Million Visitors will Attend Pope's Visit to Mexico



Mexico, Mar 17.- More than 760.000 visitors are expected to attend the upcoming visit of Pope Benedict XVI to the Mexican state of Guanajuato, said government sources.


The governor of that territory, Juan Manuel Oliva, said in a press conference that the authorities are ready for the stay of His Holiness from March 23 to 26.

Some five thousand health professionals, including physicians, nurses and paramedics will be mobilized in all the places where the activities of His Holiness will take place, said officials, quoted by the press.

For the multitudinous Mass on Sunday in Bicentennial Park, will be three field hospitals.

Paramedics will be also located at aid stations along the route of the Pontiff.

The civil protection and health operations will cost 35 million pesos (about 2.8 million USD), it was also reported to the press.

Meanwhile, revenues due to the papal visit are calculated at about 880 million pesos (about 69 million USD). (Prensa Latina).
