Relations between South African and Cuban Labor Unions Highlighted

Havana, Cuba, Mar 17.- Sidumo Dlamini, president of the South African Congress of Labor Unions (COSATU), described as excellent the historic relations between the labor unions of Cuba and his country.

In a press conference held on Friday at the Lazaro Peña School of the Confederation of Cuban Workers (CTC) in this capital, Dlamini pointed out that the purpose of his visit is to learn from the Caribbean island and to strengthen bonds of friendship with workers of various
sectors.

Zwelinzima Vavi, general secretary of COSATU, informed about the actions carried out in his government to demand the return to Cuba of Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Gerardo Hernandez and Rene Gonzalez, unfairly condemned in the United States for
fighting terrorism.

He also ratified the commitment of giving continuity to the struggle to put an end to the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by Washington on Havana for over half a century now.

The members of the South African Congress of Labor Unions will also meet with members of the National Assembly of the People’s Power (Parliament) and other Cuban organizations. They will stay on the island until March 19.
(ACN).
