Irma is not a name that is liked today in Camagüey, but as the cyclone 32 in Santa Cruz, also this will be an unforgettable one. In fact, since 1932 a hurricane had never touched Cuban soil with category five. This time it was not to the South, but the North, exactly in Romano Cay, in the municipality of Esmeralda, where the night of September 8, the wind beat strong, very strong, and then devastated.
Santiago Maldonado was last seen at a protest organized by the Ancestral Mapuche Resistance to demand the release of its leader Facundo Jones Huala, on August 1 in Patagonia.
Last August 29, a tornado struck with its destructive force a portion of the oldest area of the ancient city of Camagüey; this September 4, a new tornado, of hope, joy and certainty in the future, shook from one end to another to the legendary city and to the Agramonte´s province, with laughter, of the adolescent and young people, when the centers at all levels of education filled their classrooms.
Despite the distance of more than 100 km that separate the city from Santa Lucía beach, each summer becomes a compulsory destination for thousands of workpeople who venture to take a dip, attracted by the sweet aroma of saltpeter and its warm waters.
Although Santa Lucia doesn't look today as beautiful as in the past, remains the main destination of the Camagüey´s family vacationer, such that each July and August insists on filling the white sands of this beach resort.
Caracas.- The true face of the violence that has shaken Venezuela for more than a hundred days, incited by sectors of the reactionary extreme right that tries to show it to the world as peaceful demonstrations, comes afloat daily in this South American country.
On this day we commemorate the anniversary 64 of the assaults to the Moncada barrack, in Santiago de Cuba, and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, in Bayamo, immersed in the materialization of the postulates for which gave its life for that heroic generation.
To conceive education as a right of the people was one of the objectives of the Moncada Program, as set forth by the young Fidel Castro in his plea of self-defense during the trial for the events of 26 July 1953, and that the Cuban Revolution has become a reality.
With each new June comes the San Juan, the Authentic Party of the Camagüey´s citizens that takes place in an atmosphere of total elation cultural, through the frenzy of all artistic.
