Camagüey, Sep 16.- Residents of this city recalled Wednesday the assault to the police van to free fighters of the clandestine struggle in 1958, while Cuba was involved in an insurrectional war against pro-US dictatorship.

Germán San Borrero, seeing the atrocities of Batista’s pro-U.S. dictatorship decided to join the guerrilla in the Sierra Maestra. Specifically he joined the III Front, also known as Dr. Mario Muñoz Monroy Front, under the orders of Commander Juan Almeida Bosque. There he operated the C3R2 radio transmitter.
Santiago de Cuba, Sep 15.- Thousands of people in the eastern city of Santiago de Cuba paid tribute to Commander of the Revolution, Juan Almeida Bosque, who arrived from Havana and was taken to the mausoleum of the historic 3rd Eastern Front of the Rebel Army in that province for a military burial ceremony.
