Caracas, Jul 16.- The Venezuelan parliament accuses the United States of financing opposition organizations, news agencies and journalists in this South American country to the tune of US $50 million.

The financing goes to non-overnmental organizations (NGO) to destabilize the country, said parliament deputy Manuel Villalba in a National Assembly session

Recruiting young people from universities, journalists and the private media to establish "operations commands" for weakening the process of change known as the Bolivarian Revolution is their goal, added the deputy.

Beneficiaries include "Espacio Publico", the Institute of Press and Society, the Center for Spreading Economic Thought and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Production.

Villalba, president of the parliamentary Standing Committee on Science, Technology and Communication, noted that all these organizations openly oppose the current government.

Members of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela recently requested the National Electoral Board to investigate US financing of the opposition's election campaign. (Prensa Latina).
