Camagüey, Cuba July 26 - With the lifelong commitment of being faithful to the martyrs who died on July 26th, 1953, Cuba will continue perfecting its society, without relinquish our dreams of justice, stated first Vice-President José Ramón Machado Ventura addressing to over 90,000 people gathered in the city of Santa Clara, on occasion of the 57th anniversary of the rebel attack on Moncada barracks.
Exception to the speech of Cuba's First Vice President Jose Machado Ventura
In his speech, Cuba’s first Vice President highlighted the strength of the ideas by Simon Bolivar, founding father of the Latin America nation whose thoughts inspired Cuba’s National Hero Jose Marti and Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro.
Machado Ventura commented to those in attendance and the many others who followed his remarks through Radio, TV and Internet that the world is living under a lot of pressure today, there is not only an impending danger of U.S. war in Iran, but also the imperialism is threatening the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
In that sense, Machado Ventura ratified the position of solidarity adopted by Cuba in support of Hugo Chavez’s Venezuela, legitimized the right of that sister nation to defend itself from the escalating threat which represent several U.S. military bases in Colombia.
He stated that considering the current events; saving material resources and workforce are instrumental in all sectors.
Likewise, Machado Ventura emphasized that Cuba will continue working to find the solutions of the many problems that affect the island.
At the end of his speech, José Ramón Machado Ventura cited the words once delivered by the leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro when he said that “if once we were a handful of men, today it is a whole nation conquering the future times”. (Onelio Castillo Corderí / Radio Cadena Agramonte).
