Groups in France Demand Cuban Five Release

Paris, March 21.- Over 30 solidarity-with-Cuba groups in France, gathered around Paris' Fontaine des Innocentes (Fountain of the Innocents), located in the heart of Paris at the borough of Les Halles, called for the release of the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters unfairly imprisoned in the Unites States for the past ten years.

Dozens of people gathered at that symbolic monument get acquainted with the case of the Cuban Five, with information distributed by Jacques Milhas (representing Coordinator in Defense of the Cuban Revolution), Dominic Leduc ( of FranceCuba) and Charly Bohuana (of CubaSiFrance), among other groups.

These activists explained the obstacles faced by the relatives of Rene Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero, Ramon Labanino, and Fernando Gonzalez to visit them in jail.

Other organizations such the French subsidiary of Americans against the War (AAW), Alba France, Les Alternatifs, and Association de Femmes Uruguayennes Lourdes Pintos (AMULP) also subscribed a petition for the release of the Cuban 5.

This is not an isolated effort. Every Friday, a similar demonstration to raise awareness on the case of these five Cubans in held in Arras in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region. (Taken from RHC)
