Camagüey, Sep 13.- Camagüey’s electoral authorities consider the candidates' for delegates nominating process of the municipal councils of the Peoples' Power is satisfactory in this Cuban province, after the holding of over 970 meetings highly attended by voters.
Secretary of the Provincial Electoral Commission (CEP) Luel García Lorenzo highlighted that some 1,300 Camagüey-resident candidates have been appointed in these block-based meetings, 753 of whom were nominated.
So far, 35 per cent of those who have been chosen are women and more than 18 per cent young people, figures similar to those of the previous democratic exercise of this kind that account for the confidence of our people in women and new generations.
García Lorenzo also added that over 250 of the current district delegates have been re-nominated and so have been eleven delegates and eight deputies to the Provincial Government Assembly.
Camagüey, the largest of the 15 Cuban provinces, is expecting to carry out 3,383 meetings in neighborhoods and communities up to September 29th, to appoint the men and women who will go to election ballots on October, resulting in the election of the people’s representatives to the Municipal Government Councils.
