Havana, Mar 24.- Dominica's Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Labor Minister Vince Henderson asserted here on Tuesday that the ALBA has boosted unity of his country and Cuba, and the strengthening of Latin American peoples.
Henderson also praised in Havana the aid in social development and collaboration in the context of the Bolivarian Alternative for the People of our Americas (ALBA), an integration initiative promoted by Venezuela and Cuba, which that country joined in January, 2008.
The visitor recalled that as a result of all that, his nation receives the benefits of the Operation Miracle, which has assisted for free 3,000 Dominica patients, who were suffering from ophthalmologic problems.
During a meeting with Cuban Foreign Trade and Investment Minister Rodrigo Malmierca, Henderson also reiterated his government"s commitment to keeping supporting Cuba in international forums, and strengthening bilateral relations.
He also passed on regards from Dominican Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit to President Raul Castro and Cuban Revolution"s leader Fidel Castro.
In the talks, Malmierca said both countries are united, due to many reasons: the Caribbean, the ALBA, and their historic relations of cooperation and solidarity.
Henderson"s visit, which will last until Wednesday, includes reviving the existing Inter-Foreign Ministry Consultation mechanism between both nations since the year 2000, and review the current state of collaboration. (Prensa Latina)
