Havana, March 30.- Different tendencies, styles and techniques are part of the exhibition of Cuban contemporary art currently underway in Havana as part of the 10th Havana Biennial, inaugurated by Culture Minister Abel Prieto.
The exhibition, inaugurated on Sunday at the Pabexpo Exhibition Complex, gathers some 20 artists among them, Roberto Fabelo, Alexis Leyva (Kcho), Alfredo Sosabravo, Esterio Segura, Pedro Pablo Oliva, Manuel Mendive, Los Carpinteros, Sandra Ramos and Agustin Bejarano.
A careful selection of important art, the exhibition is aimed at offering the participants to the Biennial the vast potential of Cuban culture.
For the first time, all of the Cuban cultural entities are gathering in a same project with aspirations of establishing itself as a fair of Cuban contemporary art.
At the time of the 1st Havana Biennial was held in 1984, there were only 500 artists in Cuba. After 15 years and a substantial contribution in the expansion of visual arts, the number of artists has achieved multiplying 12 times the original figure. (Taken from Radio Habana Cuba)
