Beijing, Dec 16.- Through its Moon program, China has achieved important progress in space technology, such as placing a robot on the moon for research, an official spokesman said Monday.
Wu Zhijian of the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, said that the success of China's moon rover, the Chang e-3, which landed on the moon on Saturday night and released the Yutu robot the next day to begin research, would make it possible to attain a scientific understanding of the moon.
China has developed this moon exploration program because its financial and technical conditions permit it, Wu said during a press conference in this capital.
He stressed that China has established a solid basis for future exploration of space, and its moon program has brought technological progress in the development of rockets, communications from space, remote control, artificial intelligence, robotics, and new materials and energy. (Prensa Latina)
