Matanzas, Cuba, Apr 9.- More than 90 performances will be included in the 12th edition of the International Puppet Workshop in Matanzas (TITIM), scheduled for April 19 to 24, informed the organizers at a press conference.
Under the slogan: A Cuban Puppet Stage with the Colors of the World, the event will be attended by 26 groups including nine from Argentina, Costa Rica, Chile, Mexico, Puerto Rico, France, Finland, Bulgaria and Switzerland.
This edition of TITIM will have as headquarters halls, museums and open spaces of this town, as well as institutions and places in other seven municipalities in the territory of Matanzas, 100km east of Havana.
"The Matanzas' appointment have built solid bridges between Cuba and the world since 1994", told to Prensa Latina Ruben Dario Salazar, Artistic Director of the group Las Estaciones (The Seasons) settled in this village. " This workshop is a unique opportunity to debate about the world of puppet and, at the same time, socialize and interact with the public".
The 2016 edition will celebrate the 60 years of Pelusin del Monte, the national puppet, a creation of the Guiñol of Cuba, founded in 1956 by Camejo and Carril brothers and Dora Alonso (1910-2001), one of the most important Cuban writers for children.(Prensa Latina)
