Havana, Cuba, Jul 26.- Cuban President Raul Castro is presiding over the main rally to mark the day of National Rebelliousness underway in the central Cuban city of Santi Spiritus.
At the Major General Serafin Sanchez Revolution Square, the rally started at 7:00 a.m. with a political and cultural ceremony to remember the attack of the Moncada and Cespedes garrisons on July 26, 1953 that marked the beginning of the fight against the Batista dictatorship and paved the way to the January first, 1959 Revolution Triumph, led by Fidel Castro.
Attending the ceremony is Second Secretary of the Cuban Communist party Jose Ramon Machado Ventura who will deliver a speech as announced by Raul during the Plenary of the National Assembly of the People´s Power last July 8.
Over 8 thousand inhabitants of this central city are attending the rally, where Cuban and July 26 Movement flags embellished the main site, along several of the fighters of that historical event, as well as solidarity with Cuba groups that came from all over the world for the occasion. (acn)
