Camagüey, Aug 23.- The sociocultural project Carsueños, of this city, will represent the Cuban craftsmanship in France, from Octover 13 to November 4, date in which Carmen Soto González, creator of the initiative, will teach workshops about doll-making.
That idea began since the end of 2005, when several French tourists visit the project´s headquarters, and they were amazed with our work, mainly with the one of therapeutic dolls, explained to ACN the National Award of Community Culture 2014.
Soto González explained how each activity that will be develop in many French cities, will be promoted by the organization Nuestros sueños unidos (Our joint dreams), created due to that visit, and that encourage the interest for the doll-making in that European nation.
She added that Chantal Samarrea, creator and coordinator of the initiative in France, has achieved to incorporate to the project people who suffer different illnesses, such as cancer, in search for a better motivation in life.
One of the most exciting moments of the journey will be the premiere of the books RapiMuñecos: juega y aprende, through which there is an exchange with children in a therapeutic-didactic way, to teach them how to do puzzles and to adquire skills with sew tools, she said.
During her conferences, the craftwoman will seek to exchange how is the process of cloth doll-making, and will give emphasis that each piece should have a goal, and from that the use of the color and the ternimation.
Moreover, Carmen Soto will exhibit her creations in a children´s hospital, moment in which she will exchange with the smallest, about the doll-making history in Cuba, the value of that art, uncommon ability in developed nations.
The Cuban socio-cultural project Carsueños, with 14 years of expirience, keeps several lines of work, teaches courses, donates dolls to pediatric hospitals with therapeutic goals, and collaborates with the attention to physical and mental impaired persons.
That initiative has spread to several Cuban provinces with the graduation of dozen of women and even men, in the art of cloth doll-making and doll repair. (ACN)
