Havana, Cuba, Sep 13.- Cuban basketball player Yoanki Mensia renewed his contract with the Argentine club Gimnasia y Esgrima, of Comodoro Rivadavia city, which belongs to the professional league of that country.
Mencia, who is only 19, already played in this side last year but he started in the youth squad to then jump to the first team and now that franchise has agreed with him and the Cuban Basketball Federation to renew the agreement for two years, with possibilities to extend it even further.
The Cuban forward will directly join this time to the first team, which will raise his skills and technical-tactical thinking.
Dalia Henry, commissioner of the Cuban Basketball Federation, told JIT sports publication, the also forward Karel Guzman will soon sign a contract with a club from that same league, while Arlenis Moinelo will join a squad from the Salvadoran women´s tournament.
"The recruitment of Cubans abroad seeks to guarantee the raising of the level of our players and the improvement of their living conditions.
