Havana, Sep 28.- Immunologists, allergists, dermatologists, microbiologists and other specialists from various countries will participate in the 14th Central American and the Caribbean Congress on Allergy, to be held here from October 4th to 7th, said today organizers.
The 5th Latin American Congress on Allergy and the 9th Cuban Congress on Allergy will be held during the event, the slogan of which is 'Comprehensive science for a future without allergy'.
Some 150 foreign delegates from Guatemala, Peru, Panama, Mexico and Ecuador, amid other representatives from Latin America, as well as from Portugal, France, Spain, Poland and the United States, will participate in the congress.
'The event will be an opportunity to share experiences on the treatment, diagnosis and control of allergies, which represent a health problem not only in Cuba but the world,' said president of Cuban Society of Allergy Mirta Perez.
Allergy, considered the epidemic of the 21st century, has a high rate in Cuba and 45 percent of patients are children or teenagers, according to official statistics. (Prensa Latina)
