Guantanamo, Cuba, Oct 24.- Tourism workers in the Eastern city of Baracoa are getting the installations ready for the high season with great expectations regarding the increase in the number of international visitors and interest to increase the satisfaction of those that arrive to the region.
Although maintenance and reparations are still underway, the hotel infrastructure in Cuba’s first Villa are already in condition to face the increase of tourists, said Osmany Perez Sanchez, Sales Representative of the Ministry of Tourism in Guantanamo.
The damages of Irma in the country’s eastern region were minimal and given the effects of the hurricane in the central part of the country, specialists believe that Holguin and Baracoa will take in most of the reservations, he said.
Perez Sanchez explained that thanks to a huge investment process in face of the recent TURNAT 2017 International Nature Tourism event, the city of Holguin is under a refurbishment process including hotels and extra hotel installations, paths, and other places of interests.
The investment also included the remodeling of rooms and other sites, improvement of furniture, reparation of electric and water networks and the reanimation of the exterior areas and gardening.
The specialist added that TURNAT opened the doors to a tourism complex in the municipality of Maisi, which is located close to the town of Baracoa and whose natural enchantments gave a good impression on the visitors, mainly for its diving conditions.
The two installations constructed last year in the area, Hotel Faro and Villa Punta de Maisi have already welcomed visitors from Germany, France, Italy and Spain, consolidating the province as a strong destination for nature, culture and history. (acn)
