Santo Domingo, Oct 27.- Cuban badminton male player Osleni Guerrero got two gold medals during the finals of the Open Tournament of the Dominican Republic Friday.
Guerrero opened his action by playing the finals of the individual for male athletes against Mexican Luis Garrido, for the discussion of the title.
Guerrero lost the first set, but later he came to be the winner in the other two, and become the victor, by 12-21, 21-16 and 21-12.
The third place was for Portuguese Duarte Nuno and the fourth went to the hands of Guatemalan Kevin Cordon.
Later, joining his comrade and teammate Leodannis Martínez, Guerrero reached his 2nd gold medal, beating the couple composed by Dominicans Therry Aquino and Reimi Cabrera with scores of 21-12 and 21-14.
The title in the female individuals went to the hands of US Jamie Tsu, who defeated Peruvian Fernanda Saponara 21-9, 21-10.
The winners in the female couples were Nairoby Avigail- Licelott Sánchez, who defeated the couple formed by Noemí Almonte- Bermary, with scores of 26-24 and 21-16.
The competition in the mixed couples was won by Cuban Leodannis Martínez-Tahimara Oropeza, who beat another Cuban couple formed by Osleni Guerrero-Adriana Ortíz by 21-11, 13-21, and 21-15.
The tournament had the participation of Guatemala, Perú, México, Czech Republic, United Kingdom, England, Italy, Italia, Canada, US, Portugal, Cuba, Chile, Haiti and the host. (Prensa Latina)
