Havana, Oct 30.- The assemblies to nominate candidates for delegates to the municipal People's Power entities are concluding today in Cuba, as stipulated in the National Electoral Commission (CEN).
The original period for the current general election process in the country was extended due to the damages caused by Hurricane Irma in great part of the archipelago early September.
Given the situation created by this disaster, authorities decided to readjust the schedule.
The biographies and photos of the candidates will be published as of November 1. The training of the electoral authorities at all levels will take place from November 1 to 17.
The grass-roots representatives to the People's Power municipal assemblies will be elected on November 26, for a term of two and a half years.
In those districts where none of the candidates win more than 50 percent of the valid votes cast, a second round will be held on December 3.
CEN members have held advisory visits to the different electoral structures since September 21, to learn, assess and support the work at the grass-roots. (Prensa Latina)
