Havana, Nov 6.- Starter Luis Angel Gomez and reliever Diego Granado both had a tremendous performance when Las Tunas beat Industriales 3-1 and climbed on top of the 57th Cuban National Baseball Series.
Lefty Gomez pitched 6.1 innings allowing one run, with five strikeouts and no walks, thus earning his sixth win of the season, while Granado got his 8th save this year.
There was offensive highlight to 3B Yordanis Alarcon, who hit 2 for 4, while Fredy Asiel Alvarez took the loss.
Now, Industriales appears second in the standings half a game behind its victimizer.
In the other match of the afternoon, Artemisa completed the sweep on Pinar del Río by defeating them 5-3 at 26th of July stadium.
Catcher Andy Cosme batted 3 for 4 with an RBI to offensively shine for the winning side and reliever Israel Sanchez got the win, while closer Jose Garcia got his 15 save of the season, leader.
Meanwhile, Granma and Matanzas will complete today the match they sealed yesterday, tied 2-2 in the 3rd frame. (ACN)
