Havana, Cuba, Dec 13.- The National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP) will review vital issues for the socioeconomic development of Cuba, during its tenth Ordinary Period of Sessions of the Eighth Legislature, informed sources in Havana on Monday.
Caridad López, head of the Commission's Service Area of the ANPP, explained at a press conference that the 10 standing committees of the Parliament will evaluate aspects in common on December 19-20, while on the 21st Cuban lawmakers will gather in its plenary session.
In its usual headquarters of the Havana Conventions Center, the deputies will receive information on the execution of the State Budget and the fulfillment of the Plan of the Economy in 2017, while they will review the proposals for the coming year.
Lopez said that other issues to be evaluated in each of the commissions will be the state of solution to the people´s needs, the confrontation with illegalities, corruption and indiscipline, as well as the functioning of these working groups during the current legislature, which culminates next year.
In particular, the Economic Affairs Committee will focus on the results of the investment processes in the country, mainly those related to foreign capital, and will obtain details about the new business portfolio and its forecast for the coming year.
In the International Relations group, a panel of specialists will discuss foreign relations for 2018-2023 period.
To this will be added the review of how much the Cuban legislators have made on the world stage, and the fulfillment of the purposes of expanding and intensifying the global projection, the defense of foreign policy and the exploitation of inter-parliamentary scenarios and bilateral relations.
The Parliament's Health and Sports Commission will focus its analysis on the impact of the structure of the National Baseball Series and the participation of athletes in foreign leagues, in addition to the perspectives in the international collaboration of athletes and their hiring in other countries.
With regard to Public Health, the deputies will discuss compliance with actions linked to the shortages of medicines, the use of natural and traditional medicine, and the quality of minimum access surgery services.
During the meeting, it was learned that the Agri-Food Commission will focus on the measures of the AZCUBA business group to guarantee the repair of the industry and the state of the plantations for the coming harvest, and the limitations of tobacco production in the country.
The Service Attention working group will review compliance with the commercial circulation plan based on the inventory management, the behavior of passenger and cargo transportation with the organizational forms implemented this year, and the preparation for the high season in the tourist sector.
It will be of special interest the update that the Commission of Industry, Constructions and Energy will carry out on the state of the housing at national level, and the results in the implementation of the policy for the development of the renewable sources of energy, and the state investments in water resources.
Other topics to be debated by the Cuban legislatures in the other commissions are related to the creation of a medium technical career in law, preliminary information about the national equality survey, and the presentation of the Prevention Plan on trafficking in persons.
It will also detail the results of the work according to the procedures of the population related to internal order, migration, registration of vehicles, licensing of driving, among other related activities.
The process of integration of Higher Education in the provinces, the potentialities of the Cuban music industry and the application of scientific-technical results for the production of food, will also be on the agenda of the parliamentarians. (ACN)
