Camagüey, Jan 3.- With the completion of a new photovoltaic park, which is already being assembled in the municipality of Sierra de Cubitas, and the installation of other three in 2018, in the province of Camagüey will continue expanding the use of renewable sources of energy.
The enclave, located in the town of Imías, north of the demarcation, it will be the third of its kind in the territory and will provide 2.2 megawatt/hour (mW/h) National Electro-energetic System (SEN) once you synchronize, thanks to the use of the solar radiation for the generation of electricity.
According to Juan Carlos Lacaba, a specialist in FRE of the Electricity Company of Camagüey, the park will have 17 thousand 600 panels and will cost some 16 million pesos, an investment that seems to be expensive at the beginning, but that quickly pays for itself by the high efficiency of this energy source.
In addition, we intend to continue with the electrification of isolated houses and without access to SEN through the use of solar energy, and the placement of panels for the exclusive use of the dwellings, amounting to a few thousand 96 in the province, many of them in production.
For 2025, in Cuba it is planned that the 24 % of the electricity generated from renewable energy sources, and with a view to achieving a similar figure in the province were identified 12 areas with possibility to install solar panel systems, whose greatest contribution would be measured in the peak of the south.
Data published by the non-governmental organization (NGO) CUBASOLAR references the main lines in which Caribbean country, and the use of the sunlight occupies one of the first places, because that star is capable of contributing to the Earth, in a day, the energy consumed in an entire year.
The values of radiation from the sun that receives Cuba are good when compared to other European nations, for example, where this alternative has a high level of application; therefore it is considered as one of the greatest potential, although not only for electricity generation, according to the website of the NGO.
Its use, furthermore, allows reducing emissions of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere and other greenhouse gases responsible for global warming.
In the world of renewable sources gain greater prominence ever since, in addition to significantly reduce contamination of the environment by the burning of fossil fuels, are more sustainable economically, after the initial investment in technologies. (ACN) (Photo: File)
