Havana, Feb 13.- Lectures, roundtable discussions and scientific panels featuring academicians from several countries are the focus today of the 11th International Congress of Higher Education, Universidad 2018, to be run until Friday, February 16.
Opened yesterday at the Conference Center in this capital, the event brings together professionals from different continents, including the president of the Union of Universities of Latin America and the Caribbean (UDUAL), Henning Jensen Pennington.
For the expert, the event allows to look for international crossed alliances in order to strengthen the ties among South American countries and establish a new international academic geopolitics.
The dean of the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil, in Ecuador, Mauro Toscanini, and Syrian Minister of Higher Education, Atef al-Naddaf, also stand out among the more than 2,500 delegates and guests to the congress.
According to the program, the event will include today a lecture by Havana Historian, Dr. Eusebio Leal Spengler, entitled 'The University and the inclusive sustainable development'.
Convened by the Ministry of Higher Education, Universidad 2018 promotes the exchange among representatives of about 60 countries from different continents, as well as rectors of several universities worldwide.
Founded in 1949, UDUAL is an organization of universities and institutions of higher education in the Latin American and Caribbean region. (Prensa Latina)
