Cuba announces baseball team to play friendly in Nicaragua

Havana, Feb 16.- The Cuban Baseball Federation announced the roster of the squad to hold a friendly match against Nicaragua on February 23, 24 and 25.

Players such as outfielders Frederich Cepeda and Roel Santos, C Frank Morejon, RHP Lazaro Blanco, 1B Guillermo Aviles and infielders Raul Gonzalez, Juan Torriente, Alex Ayala and Yordan Manduley, who participated in the recently concluded Caribbean Series, were also included in the team that will also feature Carlos Marti as manager.

The side also includes veterans like RHPs Erlys Casanova, Freddy Asiel Alvarez, Vladimir Garcia and Jose Angel Garcia, but also newcomers as OF Jorge Tartabull, C Yunior Ibarra, SS Yorbert Sanchez and LHP Misael Villa.

The match will be hosted by the Dennis Martinez Stadium, in Managua, Nicaragua, and is part of the Cuban preparation for the Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla, Colombia, scheduled from next July 19 to August 4. (ACN)
