Havana, March 16.- Camagüey achieved the recognition of the jury of the Sugar National Journalism Prize 2017 for the three professionals representing this province in the contest.
The Camagüey´s territory Rolando Sarmiento Ricart, from Adelante newspaper won the award in the written press; while Yanetsy León González, also from Adelante, and Miguel Febles Hernández, a correspondent for the newspaper Granma in this region, were the mentions.
In that category also obtained mention Roger Aguilera, correspondent of the Cuban News Agency in the province of Las Tunas.
With regard to the radio, the Lauro was Dalgys Zurita Jaime, drom Radio Surco, in the province of Ciego de Avila; while the mentions were Orlando Amaro Alvarez of the provincial CMKC radio station; Ramon Avalos Rodríguez, of the CMHW radio station, in the province of Villa Clara; and Elvis Gil Dominguez, Radio Mayabeque, Radio Rebelde.
With regard to the television, the prize went to Israel Hernandez Blanco, Tele Turquino, in the province of Santiago de Cuba; and the mention of the documentary Voz de luz (Voice of light), Francisco Reinaldo Cañizares, Encrucijada telecenter, in the province of Villa Clara.
A group of renowned journalists, led by the Licensed Lino Luben Pérez, of the Cuban News Agency, received 15 work of eight provinces: Mayabeque (1), Villa Clara (2), Sancti Spiritus (1), Camaguey (3), Ciego de Ávila (1), Las Tunas (1), Holguín(1) and Santiago de Cuba (5).
The evaluation of each one of them showed the persistence of previous difficulties: low participation of journalists and communicators, poor command of the foundations to participate and little promotion of the latter in the provinces, Luben Perez in a meeting in the Association of Cuban Sugar technicians (ATAC).
In addition, he stressed the need to insist on the creation of the provincial Juries who select the best and would be candidates for the national edition.
Juan Varela Perez, from the newspaper Granma, deceased in 2016, he conquered for the first time that Lauro in 1996, and in 2016 was to Onelia Chaveco Chaveco, correspondent-head of the ACN in Cienguegos.
