Havana, Jun 7.- With the aim of discussing heart health in the region and the world, a joint meeting of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the Cuban Society of Cardiology (SCC) is underway today in Havana.
During the meeting, one of the activities of the 30th Central American and Caribbean Congress of Cardiology, will be analyzed, among other issues, new therapies for acute pulmonary embolism.
Imaging of coronary atherosclerosis and thrombus mechanical aspiration are other issues under discussion.
According to the program, the occasion will be propitious to establish the ACC's Cuban Chapter at the Conference Center in Havana, with the assistance of around 700 national and foreign delegates.
The agenda of this 30th edition, chaired by Eduardo Rivas, also includes today the International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences, and the symposia on structural cardiopathy and radial access, in addition to the poster session.
Under the slogan 'Bring Excellence into Cardiovascular Health', the 9th Cuban Congress of Cardiology will be taking place in parallel.
According to Rivas, the different events will allow deepening the medical, interventionist, surgical and rehabilitation treatment of patients with different forms of cardiovascular diseases, the first cause of death in Cuba and worldwide, or people at risk of suffering them. (Prensa Latina)
