From Argentina, voices are being raised in solidarity with Cuba



Rosario, Argentina, Jun 15.- Delegates from various parts of the country and other nations will participate from today here in the 16th Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, which will have as guest of honor the fighter against terrorism Antonio Guerrero.

The Hero of the Republic of Cuba, who is in this city for the first time, will be present at the opening day of the working sessions at the headquarters of the municipal theater comedy, where there will be a broad representation from various members of the Movement of Solidarity with the island (Mascuba) and representatives of Brazil, Venezuela and Bolivia.

Guerrero and his four companions of cause -Rene Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino and Fernando González, known internationally as the Five, were arrested in 1998 under false charges of espionage, conspiracy to commit murder, among others, while they watched the action of Cuban terrorist groups in the United States.

After a long campaign of global solidarity and firm position of Havana for his release, René González was released from prison in 2011 and three years later the remaining four, at the time of Cuba and the United States began the normalization of diplomatic relations.

Topics such as psychological warfare and battle of ideas in the traditional media and social networks, the Cuban democratic model and the imperialist integration will be several of the debates that marked the meeting organised this year by the Multisectorial de Rosario.

The event, which will be extended until Sunday, is dedicated to the 90 anniversary of the Argentine-Cuban guerrilla Ernesto Che Guevara and attended by the Cuban Ambassador Orestes Pérez, the third secretaries Leogel Delgado and Leinier Espinosa and Lilian Zamora, director of South America in the Cuban Institute of Friendship with Peoples (ICAP).

Organized by the Argentine Movement of Solidarity with Cuba (Mascuba) participants at the appointment will work for two days in several committees to address other topics related to the current moments that crosses the region. (Text and photo: PL)
