Quito, Jul 18. - The District attorney's office of Ecuador confirmed today the detention in Colombia of the supposed material author of the sequestration of a journalistic team of the newspaper Commerce, happened in last March in the Emeralds province.
The individual known as Cherry, was arrested in the Colombian Nariño department and it will be moved to Bogota for the hearing of formulation of charges, he informed the District attorney's office in his account of the social network Twitter.
Cherry, along with three armed men, detained the step of the van in which three workers of the newspaper were traveling The Commerce on March 26.
The journalist Javier Ortega, the photographer Paúl Rivas and the driver of the vehicle Efraín Segarra, had traveled to the canton the St Lawrence to realize a work on the living conditions of the settlers of the frontier area.
The Colombian police found their corpses on June 21 in a forest area.
The murder attributed to the criminal group Oliver Sinisterra, provoked strong repudiation and regional stir.
This month Colombia announced also the detention of Jesus Vargas, alias Reinel, other involved in the sequestration of the journalistic team. (Text and photo: PL)
