Cuban ophthalmologists celebrate their first year of retinopathy service in El Salvador

San Salvador, Sep 15. -The Cuban aid workers of the Ophthalmological Center of San Vicente, El Salvador, celebrated the first anniversary of the retinopathy service in the best possible way: illuminating shutdown eyes.

The internationalist team made a thousand 500 queries and practiced more than 500 laser treatments to patients with retina diseases as a result of diabetes in just one year, in another milestone Of Cuban solidarity.

On September 13th, 2017 the retina service on the Ophthalmological Center of the Hospital Santa Gertrudis, it was officially inaugurated.  Likewise, this center was inaugurated in 2015 by President Salvador Sánchez Cerén, in the context of the Misión Milagro.

At the foot of the volcano Chinchontepeque, San Vicente is a landmark of the rigor and the internationalist Cuban vocation, whose specialists attended thousands of cases of cataracts and pterygium in the first two years

The attention to the retinopathies enriched the service for Salvadorans with limited resources, and besides ensuring them clinical treatment, it will help to maintain the metabolic balance of the patient.
