Camagüey, Oct 22. -In its 5th ordinary session of the 7thterm of office, the Provincial Assembly of the Popular Power (APPP) analyzed, in this city, issues of great social and economic impact and strategies aimed at the creation of goods and services for the benefit of the people.
Delegates, deputies and guests at the meeting this Sunday, led by deputy Isabel González Cárdenas, president of the governing body, assessed the behavior of food production, a cornerstone for the development of the province.
As it went beyond, the production volumes are still far from those required to guarantee the distribution of the 30 pounds of meats, vegetables and fruits that are intended to be consumed by each person in Camagüey monthly, due to the lack of objectivity, monitoring and analysis of planting plans in the popular councils.
Daniel Iglesias Guzmán, deputy -president of the Council of the Provincial Administration, stressed that among the main deficiencies affecting the agri-food program, there is insufficient planning in the livestock sector, defaults with sowing programs and problems with raw materials and machinery.
He also said that it is necessary to contribute to the substitution of imports, as well as to encourage the correct use of the lands delivered in free usufruct, to increase the areas with various crops, and to strengthen the smaller cattle breeding.
The delegates agreed on the need to advance the planting of animal feed, to ensure greater sustainability of herds and to grow in the supply of meat and milk to the industry.
Isabel González Cárdenas, president of the APPP, called for a greater linkage of companies with their production units and to guarantee the technological packages in order to achieve higher quality productions and highly competitive in the market.
It was also emphasized that it is necessary to eliminate irregularities that still persist in the issue of the hiring of productions by the boards of the cooperatives, to supply in a stable way the markets.
The delegates to the Provincial Assembly of the People's Power agreed that for the economy it is a priority to make an efficient sugar harvest, with stable ground, starting from the repairs of the mills and the volumes of cane planted.
Among the themes related to the response to the population's approaches were the arrangement of streets and roads, the improvement of the water supply, the change of electrical networks poles, the rehabilitation and waterproofing of buildings, the increase of telephone services and affections in some bus routes.
In addition, it was reported that for territorial contribution, nine million pesos have been delivered to health, education, community services, culture, sports and trade sectors, to solve more than 50% of the approaches of the previous processes of accountability related to these areas.
Among the issues dealt with by the delegates of Camagüey was also the epidemiological situation that the province has today, particularly the presence of the Aedes aegypti mosquito and environmental problems in some communities, which favor the propagation of the vector, especially in the municipalities of Sibanicú and in the capital city of the province.
Summarizing the Provincial Assembly of the Popular Power, Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in the territory, called to reverse the insufficiencies that affect the economy, to regain the capacity of industries, to strengthen the productive poles to increase the delivery of food and to increase the exportable lines, as essential ways to guarantee the well-being of the people of Camagüey.
