Kiev, Sep. 23 - Cuban guitarist Ahmed Dickinson offered a concert at the iconic
National Philharmonic of Ukraine, in this capital, diplomatic sources said.
Dickinson is a leading concert guitarist, producer and Cuban teacher, who first performed on stage in Ukraine and showed his particular and masterful way of assuming the instrument.
The concert entitled From Yesterday to Penny Lane included a program dedicated to the music of the distinguished Cuban composer Ñico Rojas.
Dickinson, a graduate of the Higher Institute of Art, began his musical training by graduating at the Guillermo Tomás and Amadeo Roldán conservatories.
His training was under the guidance of professors Fernando López Bello, Roberto Kessell, Jesús Ortega and Alejandro González.
Subsequently, the young instrumentalist expanded his training at the English academies Royal College of Music and Guildhall School, Music and Drama, where he won several awards in major international competitions.
For some years he has directed Cubafilin Records, a record label with which he has produced several albums.
His performances have taken him to important festivals and prestigious concert halls in Europe, including the Minsk Philharmonic Hall, the Royal Albert Hall and the Royal Opera House in London.
The head of Consular Affairs of Cuba in Ukraine, Michel Alquizar Morales, expressed at the opening of the concert that this presentation confirms the prestige of the Cuban guitar school and that this strengthens the bonds of friendship between Cuba and Ukraine through the arts. (Text and photo: PL)
