Housing Program benefits families in Camagüey

Camagüey, Oct. 31.- 24 families were delivered houses in premises adapted in the former Military Agricultural Company, in El Retiro suburb.

The Construction and Assembly Company completed the investment in three months, which amounted to a cost of more than 350 thousand pesos.

These homes respond to the needs of people affected by weather events, total landslides, low-income families and those with critical health problems, said SulmaEstévezMeléndez, specialist in Population Care of the Municipal Assembly of the Popular Power, who highlighted the quality of the building.

Among the new residents are children with chronic diseases, big families, and also physically disabled people.

The aforementioned settlement includes apartments with one, two and three rooms, which improves the dwellers´quality of life, who thank the Revolution for this social program.

Miriam Torres García, a dweller, says that her old house was virtually collapsing, so she had to move with her grandson for two years. But now she feels comfortable and joyful.

On the other hand, Alianne Peña Cruz received a fully supplied house. She explains that she came from a very difficult situation, since she is the mother of six young children, one of them hospitalized at this time. This new house is a palace compared to where I lived, because I came with empty hands and the Revolution gave me everything, Alianne said.

As part of the government´strategy to save resources and take advantage of obsolete buildings, comfortable buildings in more than twenty premises are conditioned in Camagüey, an action that allows improving the housing stock.
